I’m on a knitting kick right now so I’m showing you the patterns I would like to knit at some time.
Muse Hat - This is my favorite of the two hats listed here. I love the way it looks and was what I was looking for when I started looking at hat patterns.
Lace Beanie - This hat still has the open, airiness to it but in a more practical way.
Airy Waves Shawl - I’ve always wanted to knit a shawl and liked this pattern. I probably won’t do the stripes but I like the simpleness of it and how it can double as a scarf.
Garter Ridge Baby Cardigan - This is what I am knitting for my future niece. I don’t really knit for others but had to knit something for my new niece. This cardigan was the perfect pattern for the yarn I wanted to use.

I was playing around on deli.cio.us and found out that I can subscribe to tags. So, I decided to see how it works. I subscribed to the tags of sewing and knitting.
This is soooo much easier finding sites about sewing or knitting. Today I want to share with you some of the things I would like to sew at some time. Speaking of which, I really ought to check out Hancock Fabrics’s web site to see what they have on sale this week.
How to whip stich - This is for Best Friend. She knows how to sew but doesn’t know how to whip stitch. Me, when I needed to sew something it was always using a whip stitch because that’s all I knew.
Ironing Board Cover - My ironing board cover is about to bite the dust.
Machine Quilting 101 - I’m thinking about making a quilt for my bed and these instructions are wonderful. I think I might actually be able to do this.
Reversible Patchwork Bag - I think this bag would be excellent to make before I start on my quilt. This would give me practice and a chance to see if I really have the patience to see the quilt from start to finish.

My kiddos have to practice math facts for 10 minutes a day as part of their homework. I get tired of having to fire problems off the top of my head and using flashcards so I spent some time looking for online help. I needed ideas on how to mix it up and not be doing the same thing day after day.
The following links are what I have been doing this week. Enjoy!
The Teachers’ Cafe - Not just for math! I used the math portion of it but will be returning to this site for other subjects.
Fact Family Addition and Subtraction - There is more to this site but I just used the addition game. I will eventually have my son play the telling time game but for now my focus is math.
Drill Sheets for Math - I like having simple drill sheets. I don’t really time the kiddos but it’s nice to know how many problems they can get done in 10 minutes.
Study Booklet - I loved this site! I got so many ideas of things to do with my son who is new to addition. Not only do I love the study book but I loved the touch points.
Math Magician Games - I have used this web site for about a year for reviewing math facts. It’s one site I keep coming back to over and over again.

Today I’d like to share Skip To My Lou with you. Skip To My Lou was introduced to me from Scribbit when she posted about making Indiana Jones bull whips.
Skip To My Lou is an excellent web site with lots of craft and sewing ideas. The following are a few of my favorites:
- How To Make a Duct Tape Bull Whip - We did this and the kiddos LOVED it! Oh my! This was a fun project. The boys were ecstatic that we were actually going to make bull whips. They had fun and played for hours with them.
- Crayon Roll Holder - I fell in love with this crayon roll and can’t wait to make it. I would like to make a special one for each of my kiddos. Then when we need to take an entertainment bag, they each have their own roll and won’t be fighting about not sharing crayons. I think for the older two, I might put colored pencils in it. (I might also have to adjust the pattern for that…but I think I can figure that part out.)
- Useful things made pretty - I am in love with the journals! With Christmas around the corner these are excellent ideas for the writers in your family. (Be sure to scroll down to see the journals with the pen holders.)
- Tutu Tutorial - I love tutu’s and didn’t realize that making one could be so simple. I can’t wait to make this for my sweet princess.
- Lunch Bags - I love these bags! I haven’t decided if I am going to make these for my son’s teachers or make them for myself. Heck, I guess I could do both. I have been keeping my eye out at the fabric store for the one that screams “Make Me!” I haven’t found it yet, but these bags are always in the back of my mind whenever I am there.
I just noticed that I used the word love in every single craft. Hmm, I guess you could say I really like Skip To My Lou. She has excellent ideas. You should go over there and check her out.

Once again it is Friday which means I share with you what I have found throughout the week. In honor of yesterday’s Bean post I think I will share some cooking links.
Lentil Chili - YUM! Oh.my.yum. Even hubby liked it and he is scared of lentils. (that could be because I was mad once and made lentil burgers to punish him but that’s a story for another time.)
Great Northern Beans - I haven’t made this yet but have all the ingredients just waiting to be mixed together. Doesn’t it just sound good? Well, it does to me.
Chilled Cucumber-Yogurt Soup - I love cucumbers, soup, and mint. This has to be good. Right?
No-Knead Bread - because you have to have bread to dip in the soup. It is wrong to not have bread with soup.
How about you? What have you come across this week that you would like to share?

Math Magician Games - This has been great in helping the kids learn their math facts. It’s fun to let them practice on the computer instead of doing flashcards all the time.
Handwriting worksheets - These are great to print out whenever you need to brush up on your handwriting skills. My 7yo has difficulty writing so these are fun to print out every once in awhile for practice. It’s also fun for my 3yo who is wanting to do homework with her brothers.
Fact Monster - So far I’ve only played some of the math games but I find this site interesting.
Shirley’s Preschool Activities - Sometimes I can’t think of activities to do with my daughter. Plus, there are worksheets I can print off so she can do homework with her brothers.
