I have finally finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7). I can honestly say that I am relieved it is over. I can’t say that I liked the book but I can’t say that I didn’t enjoy it either. It didn’t grip me like the other six books did but I think part of that is because I didn’t want to be gripped. I didn’t want to experience the rush I felt as I read the others because I knew that this was the last book. I wouldn’t be waiting for the rest of the story to play out…when I read the last sentence the story would have played out and that would be it. Harry had become a part of me and I was sad that it was ending.
On the other hand, I am glad that it is over. I finally finished the book and know what happens so I don’t have to try to protect myself from hearing any spoilers to the story. The one thing that I did hear didn’t happen and I was actually disappointed. Can you believe that? I was disappointed that something didn’t happen. I am a sad, sad person. Anyway, I have finished the book and can move on with my life. The book has been moved off my nightstand and can take its rightful place on the bookshelf until one of us wants to read it again.
I gave up trying to find a new blog template (for now that is). Instead, I have spent the afternoon reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7). I started reading it when it first came out but wasn’t in the mood for it so I put it aside. This morning I was reading some of my favorite blogs and the post at Rocks in My Dryer was about the latest Harry Potter. She had just finished reading it and had to discuss it. Now, I have been very blessed to have not found out anything about what happens and have worked hard at not knowing anything. I want to read the book and find out as I’m reading it. Not like hubby who had read stuff and heard stuff before hand and as he was reading he would find out what was true and what was hogwash. So after almost reading all of Rocks in My Dryer’s post I decided it was time for me to pick Harry Potter back up off my nightstand and finish reading it. And that is what I have been working on all afternoon. I only took a break because I was hungry and wanted to play on my blog for a bit. After this I plan on hitting the book again and hopefully finish it by the end of the weekend. I’m almost halfway through now so maybe I can finish it in time. Besides, I’ll love the feeling of accomplishment I’ll feel when I’ve read it.
The next book on my agenda is Pretties (Uglies Trilogy, Book 2) by Scott Westerfeld. Pretties is the sequel to Uglies (Uglies Trilogy, Book 1) which is about a world where everyone gets to be supermodel pretty when they turn sixteen. Sounds great…only is it really all it’s meant to be? I’m not usually a fan of science fiction but this book had me. I can’t wait to start Pretties and almost went ahead and bought Specials (Uglies Trilogy, Book 3) last night when I was getting Pretties but figured I had better wait since I purchased Uglies last week. I tend to get carried away when buying books and can’t have just a few of series.
I’m also in the process of reading A Valley of Betrayal (Chronicles of the Spanish Civil War, Book 1) by Tricia Goyer. This book is excellent. It is historical and detailed. I can picture and live it as I read. Tricia has a new fan and I am excited to be part of her upcoming blog tour for her next book A Shadow of Treason (Chronicles of the Spanish Civil War, Book 2). Her blog tour starts in November and I’m not scheduled until December 10th. I’m trying to finish the first book before I start reading the second book because I think it’s wrong to not read the books in order. That’s just me and I probably ought to get over it but it’s wrong.
I’m also thinking of having another book giveaway…probably at the beginning of November…maybe I’ll be giving away a book by the feature author of the month…hmm.
That’s all I can think of that’s happening here at 123Pizza so I had better get back to my reading if I’m going to finish it.
This is my creative outlet. I am free to write, display photos and drive my husband crazy by asking him to tweak the code or add something else to it that strikes my fancy.
Basically, this blog is about what is going on in my mind. It might be interesting...it might not be. That's for you to decide.
