Starting To See The Fruit

tree shaped as a heart

As a mom you pour and pour into your kids and don’t always see results. Lately I have began to see the fruits of my labor in my eldest child, N (10 years).

  • Every day this past week he has woke up and gotten ready for school before the alarm went off. He even wakes up his brother so S can also get ready for school.
  • He holds the door open for others when we are out an about.
  • When we are in a restaurant he looks at the name tag of our waitress so he can call her by her name.
  • Today, his siblings were arguing over a Nintendo DS and he negotiated a plan. The one who already had the DS could play it until a certain time and then had to let the other sibling play it.

Whenever I catch him doing these things I always let him know how proud I am of him. He usually blows it off and tells me he’s learning to be a man (but you can tell he’s loving the praise). Today after praising him for his fine negotiating/compromising skills he told me he learned it from Dad. He was learning how to be a father from him.

Let me tell you I my heart just about burst with love for N. I couldn’t believe it. I realized at that moment that all our hard work at pouring into him was starting to pay off.

I love you N, S, and E.
