I Am That Mom

I spent the better part of my afternoon running from store to store looking for a gray sweat shirt and gray sweat pants for Son #2′s class play. He has to have the clothes at school tomorrow.

Do you know how hard it is to find gray sweats especially when there are I don’t know how many other boys need the same outfit? It wasn’t easy. The first store had them but the shirts were way too big and the pants were way too small.

Of course the sizes in between were gone because I’m sure the other mothers went and purchased the clothes when they got the note several weeks ago. It’s not like I didn’t have any warning. Nope, I had plenty of warning and meant to get it much sooner so I didn’t have to run around at the last minute. Yeah, I forgot. Sooo, I was running around at the last minute.

The next three stores we went to didn’t have any sweats at all and I finally ended up at the Salvation Army. I was able to find a pair of gray sweat pants and a gray long sleeve shirt. It’s the best I could do and the shirt is thick so I think it will work.

Cool! Now I have the outfit so we can go home. Wrong. Forgetful me forgot to buy black socks when we were at the first store so we had to go back for them. Now, I have everything I need for his costume.

You know, there was a time in my life where I would have received the note and immediately got the items together and sent it to school the next day. I’m not sure where that time has gone because for the past couple of years the school is lucky I remember to send my kids there. (Ok, I’m not that bad at least I don’t think.)

That happened to me a few years ago-the K class does a gym show and Elena needed navy sweats and a top-I put it off ASSUMING how darn hard would it be to find, well the summer crap is all out now and so it was IMPOSSIBLE to find. I did find it somewhere, but trust me, had I bought it the month before……
