Wal-Mart Worker Dies in Black Friday Stampede
Because people couldn’t patiently wait to get to the items they wanted to purchase there is a set of parents mourning over the loss of their son. There are friends who are mourning the loss of their friend.
I wonder if those who purchased items at that Wal-Mart today will think of their behavior as they give their gifts this year. Was their behavior worth a man’s life? Have they thought about the part they played in this man’s death?
These are just a few of the questions that have been screaming around in my head today. And as I’m typing this these words from Jesus popped into my head.
“Father, forgive these people, because they don’t know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34) YouVersion.com
I started this post outraged and appalled. I’ve been upset all day long and wasn’t going to blog about it because so much has already been said. The more I thought about this and the situation in Mumbai I realized I couldn’t be quiet any longer. Although, what I had planned wasn’t what God had planned.
As much as I don’t want to I need to forgive them. I don’t know what causes someone to have to have something so bad that they have to have it right at that moment. Oh wait. Yes I do. I am no different than those people who lined up at that store morning. We are all sinners.
As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one;
11 there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”13 “Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.”
“The poison of vipers is on their lips.”14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 ruin and misery mark their ways,
17 and the way of peace they do not know.”
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” (Romans 3: 10-18) YouVersion.com
So not only am I praying for the man who lost his life today, the others who were injured, I am also praying for everyone who was involved in this tragic incident. As my Lord and Savior has said, Father forgive them. Amen.
