My accountability partner is my BFF, Best Friend. You may have seen her commenting on here and once I even talked her into writing a post (although I think she should write here more often).
Without Best Friend I don’t know where I would be. Seriously, she has seen me at my ugliest and I’m not talking about grungy looking and without make-up. She has seen the ugly that resides in me and just like my husband she chooses to still love me.
I’m trying to think how long we have been accountability partners. I know we’ve been friends for nine years. We haven’t always been close enough to share everything because it has taken years of friendship to get to the point of trust we have. Somewhere over the time we reached the point to where we weren’t just friends but also accountability partners. It was something that has happened over the course of the nine years of our friendship.
Best Friend is not only my BFF and accountability partner she’s also a mighty woman of God. Not only that, she’s also real and makes about as many mistakes as I do (that’s one of the reasons I love her so much).
Accountability has been on my heart all day long and I’m not sure what to do with it. I believe everyone needs someone to help them remain accountable. If it weren’t for Best Friend and my relationship with God I honestly don’t know where I would be in my life right now.
I firmly believe that part of the reason I seek God is because Best Friend won’t let me fall away. When I come to her and I just want to quit she’s always there understanding and has words of wisdom for me. (She may not see them as words of wisdom but they are.)
Now, here’s the kicker. Best Friend and I no longer live in the same town. We have to communicate by phone, email, and facebook. The miles have not hurt our friendship any. That is a blessing because I don’t get to hang out with Best Friend as much as I would like. However, she is only a phone call, text message, or email away.
My question to you is…do you have someone who holds you accountable?

Well, of course I have words of wisdom for you! It’s about time you admit it!! Now as to when the accountability started, I remember standing in the back yard of my house on Lake (taking a “fresh air” break) and having that conversation. You asked if I would help keep you accountable. I, of course, said yes, because I am a good person…and becuse I wanted to know your secrets. I don’t think either of us anticipated what was to come of that rather chilly night, but I do know that God is AWESOME!!!! Thank you for everything!
