The pacifier is gone! We are free from the pacifier! I am so happy and relieved. I have been wanting to get rid of that thing for months but then didn’t do it because well…it kept her quiet. If she was crying give her the pac and she would be quiet. That’s why we gave it to her in the first place…keep quiet so mom can stay sane.
I was happy when she was younger and would take a pacifier. My boys never did and it was frustrating. She took a pac with no problem and it was so pleasant…almost heavenly. Until she got older and learned how to take the pacifier holder off and apart. Until she learned how to take the pac out and drop it wherever she felt like and expected you to know where it was. Until she would spit it out in a parking lot filled with disgusting stuff and still want you to put it back in her mouth. Then the pac became the work of the devil.
I got to where I hated pacifiers. I would wonder why did I start this? So the thoughts of getting rid of the pac began. I started talking to her about how she was a big girl and big girls didn’t need pacifiers. She didn’t care. I told her we needed to give her pacifiers to the babies because she was too big for one. She informed me that they could go to Wal-mart and buy one.
I decided that after the 4th of July we were no longer going to have a pacifier. I was tired of messing with them. As luck would have it the kiddos spent the weekend of the 4th with their grandparents. Guess what? They forgot the pacifier at their house and daughter had to go to sleep without it because I wasn’t about to get out the stash we had at home.
That first evening without the pac was as expected. She didn’t like it and was crying while going to sleep. Hubby gave in and laid down with her until she went to sleep. The next day during nap time, I laid her down and she went to sleep. No fuss, no crying, nothing. That evening when daddy was home she fussed a little bit when she was put down for bed but this time he didn’t give in and she went to sleep. Wow! What a huge blessing!
So now I am free of that wretched pacifier! I’m free! I’m free!
