Hubby has been working in another town for six months. We go visit him every once in awhile but lately he has been able to come up for the weekends. This past weekend he was able to take an extra day to be with us since he had to work last weekend.
Anyway, our youngest who is two has been pretty upset by this change. Everything would be fine, we have a routine and then BAM! Daddy is home for the weekend and then he leaves Sunday evening and she is upset. So upset that she won’t sleep in her own bed.
Now I am a believer in letting your child cry their selves to sleep and not let them manipulate you, however, this wasn’t a case of manipulation. This was clearly different. Usually by the middle of the week I was able to get her to sleep in her bed again. Then it was the weekend and it started all over again.
We knew when Hubby took this new job that it wouldn’t be easy. We are also the ones who decided it would be best to wait until school let out before the rest of us moved into the house Hubby got us. So when youngest started having troubles with her daddy being gone I let her start sleeping with me. It was only temporary and once we were in our new house and life was more stable she would go back to her own bed.
Lately I have been wanting her to sleep in her own bed because I like sleeping by myself. It’s not like I can tell she’s in bed with me since I have a King size bed, but still, I want my bed to myself. I’m selfish and tired of sharing a bed.
This weekend Hubby went to put youngest to bed and of course she started crying because she wanted to sleep in my bed. Hubby usually puts her in her bed and stays with her until she goes to sleep. Hubby had to run an errand and I was the one putting her to bed. She started her crying and I told her that daddy wanted her to sleep in her bed. She said Oh and went to sleep. Wow! I was all set to let her sleep in my bed and move her when I wanted to go to bed because I’m not staying in her room until she goes to sleep.
So Hubby had to leave again and afterwards I was getting the kiddos to bed. I figured I would try putting youngest to sleep in her bed again. She started to cry so I told her daddy wants her to sleep in her own bed. Yet again, she went right to sleep without any problems.
Please Oh Please Lord let this keep up! I want my bed back!
