Do I Really Need Another Animal?

by 123pizza on January 12, 2008

My son’s cub scout troop went to visit the Humane Society the other day. All I can say is that we all fell in love with a cat. Of course none of us fell in love with the same cat. So now we are having to decide whether we will adopt a cat and if so where are we going to put it’s litter box. How are we going to keep the cat smell from grossing out hubby who always comments on cat smells. What happens if the cat urinates on our carpet? How will we get the smell out? How does the Humane Society know the cat is good with kids if the cat is a stray?

Those are just a few of the questions we are thinking about before we get a cat. We don’t want to get a cat only to have to find another home for it because we haven’t thought everything through. That wouldn’t be fair to the cat.

I think secretly I love animals but hadn’t been able to keep one when I was younger so I grew up to not like animals. So far in the last year (as in 365 days) I have thought about getting birds, a dog (which we did) and now a cat. What am I going to do? I don’t want a home filled with pets but they are just so cute and need homes.

Remember Spot? He is doing well and I think several guys in the area are going to pitch in and help a vet find a home for him. As much as I want to bring Spot home, that might not be the best idea. However, Spot is always welcome in our home. Did you read that hubby? In case you missed it…Spot is always welcome in our home.
