Because this is October we usually start saving for Christmas and birthdays (two of our kiddos birthdays are immediately after Christmas). Only this year we actually had the money and started Christmas shopping early…it was so much fun! Now mind you, we live in a small town so there really isn’t anywhere to shop except for Wal-Mart so I guess we were having fun in Wal-Mart’s limited supply of toys…mainly Legos. Two of our kiddos wanted Legos and the other kiddo doesn’t talk much so we decided for her…she got a doll house and a Barbie (a brunette Barbie I might add).
We also put the kiddos to bed this evening and told them they would have a surprise in the morning but they couldn’t get out of bed and leave their room…IT WORKED! Oh my goodness…if only I had a surprise for every night of the year.
Anyway, what we did was upgrade our T.V. Yes, everyone, we went from a 19″ to a 30″ wide screen. Oh yeah….we are moving on up. (We are still squat compared to my brother who has 3 big screens in his living room (can you say bachelor?)…but hey…we are getting somewhat closer to the Joneses). So what did we do with our old T.V.? We put it in kiddos room along with the vcr and playstation. They are going to be so surprised when they wake up in the morning! Oh yes they are! (Well…at least they had better be surprised).
I have resisted getting a new T.V. for quite some time but am actually quite happy we got one. It looks so nice sitting on it’s new stand especially since we got rid of the big, bulky entertainment center we previously had. Oh how I detest big, bulky furniture. I am an open space kind of girl. I detest bulky of any kind.
I appreciate the fact we are able to start buying for Christmas at this time. I’m usually one of those who shop early and get it done and over with so I can enjoy the holiday season but I haven’t ever done my Christmas shopping this early.
We still have a few more gifts to get and then will need to focus on birthdays. That’s the big one for us since kiddos birthdays are so close to the holidays. We emphasize the birthdays and not so much Christmas presents. Christmas emphasis is put on Jesus and the big presents come in on the birthdays.
